Job Details Job Location: Edmond, OK 73034 Position Type: Student Salary Range: $7.50 - $7.50 Hourly Job Category: OTRS Ineligible Position Overview This is a regular student labor position in which the selected candidate will assist the Certified Athletic Trainers with the coordination of the Sports Medicine program. This position requires heavy, physical and/or manual labor. Hours per Week 5-25 hours per week. Working nights, weekends, and holidays is a possible function of this position. College/Department Overview The Athletics Department at the University of Central Oklahoma currently supports over 400 student athletes in 15 NCAA Division II sports including Football, Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's & Women's Golf, Baseball, Softball, Wrestling, Women\'s Track & Field (Indoor & Outdoor) and Cross Country, Women\'s Tennis, Women\'s Soccer, Women\'s Rowing and Women\'s Volleyball. Department Specific Job Functions The selected candidate(s) will assist the Certified Athletic Trainers with pre-practice/pre-game/and post-game preparation. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Setup sports medicine needs before practices and competitions. Cleaning and maintenance of sports medicine equipment, supplies, and modalities after practice and competitions. Attend athletic practices and competitions as assigned. Application of basic first aid and CPR training. Application of preventive and protective taping/wrapping procedures within limitations of knowledge and training. Application of cryotherapy and modalities within the limitations of knowledge and training. Other duties as directed and supervised by OCU Athletic Training staff. Enrollment Requirements Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester: To work in a regular student position during the summer semester, students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum credit hours required for their classification and employment type. Students enrolled in fewer than 3 summer credit hours will be subject to FICA taxes during the summer term, which apply to both the student and the department. For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate). Note: New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester in which they begin classes. Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Required Interest in the medical field. CPR/First certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hiring. A valid driver\'s license is required. Qualifications/Experience Preferred Prior experience in a clinical setting. Pursuing a career in the medical field. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of Microsoft Office suit of programs. General knowledge of NCAA Division II rules & regulations. Must be able to perform all tasks appointed by the certified athletic trainers. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Understanding of HIPAA and FERPA guidelines. Must have a strong desire to learn.
