Funeral Service Assistant (part-time)

Provides clerical and administrative assistance supporting funeral operations. Job Responsibilities Prepares a service by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, and other personal keepsakes or mementos for client families; ensures proper care and storage of these items. Prepares documents related to services, cremations, and maintenance as directed by management. Assists with respectful preparation of remains, including dressing, lifting, and operation of crematory equipment, in compliance with law and company regulations. Performs office duties such as answering phones, operating fax machine, computer, multiline phone system, debit card machine, typewriter, postage meter, scale, and stereo/video system. Runs errands such as floral delivery, pickup of supplies and documents. Serves as an usher and may park cars or perform transportation requirements. Drives funeral home vehicles for services and pickups of families. Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law. Assists with visitations, memorial, and funeral services, including visitation and chapel set up, dressing and casketing remains, delivering family items and flowers. Greets and receives client families and other persons entering the office for information and assistance. Accommodates the needs of families during a service or visitation. May wash and clean funeral home and other client vehicles as required from time to time. Minimum Requirements Education: high school diploma or equivalent. Experience: previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred. Proficiency with MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required. Certification and Licenses Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High level of compassion and integrity. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Professional behaviors and team player. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $18.50 per hour. Part‑time associates working an average of 20 hours per week may be eligible for a 401(k) plan.
