Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures
• Perform pre-procedure patient assessments and prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures
• Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies, upper endoscopies (EGD), and other specialty procedures
• Administer and monitor moderate sedation in accordance with facility policies
• Continuously assess and monitor patient condition throughout procedures and recovery
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, medications, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, technicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards
• Prepare procedure rooms and ensure all equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly

Requirements

• Active RN License in California
• Minimum 2 years of recent Endoscopy nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• ACLS Certification required
• Experience with moderate sedation preferred
• Experience assisting with GI procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD, and related therapeutic procedures
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and nursing documentation systems
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment
