Switchboard Operator

This position is Onsite. Our office is located at Owensboro Regional Hospital at 1201 Pleasant Valley Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303.

This position is full-time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours. on a per diem basis, up to 24 hours/week, (We currently have 4 shifts - 7:00am - 3:30pm, 11:00am - 7:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm and 11:00pm - 7:30am.) It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. Ability to train a full-time basis for the first four weeks, however schedule is flexible.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Receives and relays internal and external calls and provides general information
• Operates telephone software applications to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls
• Operates the computerized system for patient transport including answering calls, entering information into patient transport system, assigning Ambassadors, and clearing the task when complete
• Dispatches patient transport and security staff as needed to the correct direction including the use of proper radio etiquette to ensure accuracy
• Maintains desk directories, on-call list, reference guides, and other associated reference materials
• Receives and accurately prioritizes; distributes phone calls to providers and nursing staff as needed
• Communicates codes, alerts, drills, and other announcements according to established policies and protocols including disaster management plans
• Proficient in all software applications specific to the Communications Department
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion to ensure equipment is functional

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED
• Must be 18 years of age OR older
• Beginner level of proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
• Ability to work onsite at Owensboro Regional Hospital at 1201 Pleasant Valley Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303.
• Ability to train on a full-time basis for the first four weeks, however schedule is flexible
• Ability to cover any of our shifts on a per-diem basis, up to 24 hours/week (including weekends). (We currently have 4 shifts - 7:00am - 3:30pm, 11:00am - 7:30pm, 3:00pm - 11:30pm and 11:00pm - 7:30am.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
• Health care experience

Soft Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, build rapport and respond to customers in a compassionate manner
• Proficient conflict management skills to resolve issues in a stressful situation

The salary for this role will range from $16.00 - $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
