Technical WriterGalapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Technical Writer position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.The ideal candidate will create, edit, and maintain clear, accurate, and user-focused technical documentation for mission systems, applications, and processes. This role translates complex scientific, engineering, and technical concepts into concise, easy-to-understand documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.The Technical Writer works closely with customers, engineers, developers, and program staff to convert functional and operational requirements into detailed technical documentation and specifications that support system development, operations, compliance, and end-user adoption.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Technical Writer will:Develop and maintain technical documentation, including How-to guides, User manuals, Reference documents, Cheat sheets, Instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Translate scientific and technical concepts into clear, plain-language documentationWork directly with customers to translate functional requirements into detailed technical specificationsCollaborate with software developers, engineers, and system administrators to document system functionality and workflowsProduce developer-oriented documentation in support of system design, development, and maintenanceDesign and apply documentation templates, formatting standards, and output stylesEnsure documentation accuracy, consistency, and compliance with contract and organizational standardsManage multiple documentation tasks simultaneously while meeting tight deadlinesEdit, proofread, and review content for grammar, clarity, and technical accuracyMaintain version control and updates for evolving systems and processesSupport documentation related to SDLC, RMF, and IC IT environmentsSkills and ExperienceThe Technical Writer must have:Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance5+ years of experience supporting technical documentation efforts within Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) environmentsProven ability to distill complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentationDemonstrated experience creating developer-oriented, system, and technical documentationExperience working directly with technical, engineering, and software development teamsExperience using multiple documentation tools to Develop and maintain document templates, Format and manipulate output styles, and Produce professional technical documentationStrong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Risk Management Framework (RMF), Intelligence Community Information Technology Enterprise (IC ITE) concepts, and Technical and cybersecurity terminology used in DIA or Intelligence Community environmentsExperience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community documentation effortsFamiliarity with compliance, accreditation, and RMF documentation requirementsEducation and CertificationsThe Technical Writer must meet the following:Required: Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related disciplineRelevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degreeDoD 8140 compliance required, as applicable to rolePreferred:Technical Writing or Technical Communication certificationITIL FoundationCompTIA Security+ CE (for roles supporting RMF or security documentation)BenefitsMedical, dental, vision, disability, and life insuranceFlexible Spending Accounts401(k)PTOPaid Parental LeaveTuition reimbursementPaid federal holidaysSecurity ClearanceMust be a U.S. Citizen.
