Unit Specifics: Cardiac Tele

· Number of Beds : 29

· Patient Ratios : 1:4

· Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability): Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs

· Type of equipment : Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, dinamap in each room, 3 Welch Allen Vital Machines, Wound Vacs, Temporary Pacemakers, Telemetry monitor, EKG Machine, Bladder Scanner, Doppler, Imobile for communication between team members

· Documentation system: Meditech

Advanced skills needed:  Must have experience with post cardiac procedural care (Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 Open Heart, permanent Pacemaker placements). Must be able to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.

Procedures performed on unit: IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, Chest Tube maintenance, Temporary Pacemakers, Foley insertions

Minimum 1-year current acute care PCU/Tele hospital experience

BLS, ACLS, NIH certifications
