Litigation Attorney - Personal Injury

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Litigation Attorney in Austin, Texas, to manage and litigate civil personal injury matters from intake through resolution. The candidate will handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, negotiations, mediations, and trial preparation, while maintaining high ethical and professional standards. Duties Manage a diverse caseload of personal injury and civil litigation matters from client intake through resolution or trial. Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement demands, and other court filings. Develop case strategy including liability and damages analysis, evidentiary plans, and settlement positions. Represent clients at mediations, settlement conferences, pre-trial hearings, and in court proceedings; try cases when necessary. Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, insurers, and third parties to obtain optimal client results. Work with experts to build and present cases. Maintain accurate case files, document client communications, meet court deadlines, and handle time/billing records. Collaborate with support staff and mentor junior attorneys or paralegals as needed to ensure efficient case management. Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding case status, strategy, risks, and expected outcomes. Requirements Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in Texas. Minimum 5+ years of civil litigation experience with demonstrable work on personal injury matters. Proven experience in litigation tasks including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions practice, and courtroom advocacy. Strong skills in client counseling, negotiation, and litigation strategy with a track record of achieving favorable settlements or verdicts. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized case documentation. Comfortable conducting and defending depositions and participating in mediations; readiness to prepare and try cases when necessary. Education Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
