The MBNC unit provides trade credit insurance solutions for complex, multi-buyer portfolios requiring non-cancelable coverage. The team partners with strategic brokers and clients to deliver bespoke solutions that balance long-term risk stability with commercial growth. Job Description The Senior Commercial Underwriter is responsible for leading the structuring, pricing, and execution of complex trade credit insurance programs within the MBNC portfolio. This role requires deep expertise in non-cancelable product design, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to navigate internal governance while delivering tailored solutions to brokers and clients. The Senior Underwriter acts as a key interface between commercial, risk, legal, and senior management to ensure solutions are both competitive and aligned with underwriting guidelines. A balance between premium growth and disciplined risk management is fundamental to the role. In this position your key responsibilities will be: Lead the structuring and pricing of complex MBNC credit insurance transactions Underwrite multi-buyer portfolios across industries, incorporating financial, sector, and country risk considerations Design bespoke policy structures (e.g., limits, tenors, waiting periods, loss structures, break clauses) aligned with MBNC governance Partner closely with Risk Underwriting teams to assess portfolio quality and obtain required approvals Navigate and manage internal governance, including approvals for deviations from underwriting guidelines Present and defend underwriting proposals to senior management and approval committees Serve as a point of contact for broker partners on key deals and negotiations Drive deal execution from initial quote through binding, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders Lead or participate in client and broker meetings, including high-value and strategic opportunities Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support team development Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to strategy on renewals, amendments, and risk exposure Contribute to product development, wording enhancements, and process improvements within MBNC Maintain strong relationships across commercial, risk, claims, and legal teams Major Skills and Competencies Deep understanding of trade credit insurance, particularly non-cancelable (MBNC) structures Strong financial analysis skills, including interpretation of financial statements and portfolio risk dynamics Advanced structuring and pricing capability for complex insurance transactions Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance growth and risk Ability to operate effectively within governance frameworks and approval structures Excellent communication and negotiation skills with brokers and senior stakeholders Proven ability to manage multiple complex deals simultaneously Strong relationship management skills across internal and external stakeholders Leadership capability, including mentoring and influencing without direct authority What qualification should you have? Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field 5–10+ years of experience in trade credit insurance, commercial underwriting, or structured finance Proven experience structuring complex or non-standard insurance or credit solutions Strong understanding of credit risk, portfolio dynamics, and insurance policy structures Experience working with brokers and managing client‑facing negotiations Proficiency in underwriting tools, financial analysis, and Microsoft Office Experience with non-cancelable credit insurance products Exposure to multi‑buyer portfolio underwriting Experience presenting to senior approval committees or governance forums What do we offer? Competitive Salary: $103,000 - $125,000 annually, dependent on experience level with a 10% bonus potential.
