Position Title: Peer Point Coach

Reports To: Peer Point Program Manager

Community: San Mateo County

Office Location: Redwood City, CA (up to 50% hybrid role of in-person and remote)

Compensation: $28.19/hourly, generous benefits package

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Program Summary

Peer Point is a new FLY program, designed by San Mateo County youth, that aims to address systemic inequities in the San Mateo County juvenile justice system and in school disciplinary practices for youth from underserved and system-impacted communities. Peer Point is a restorative, healing-centered intervention to the school-to-prison pipeline that centers youth agency.

Peer Point Coach - Position Summary

The Peer Point Coach provides restorative, healing centered coaching support for youth participating in the peer point program. Coaches work closely with youth, family, schools and community stakeholders and youth leaders to support youth in addressing the root causes of school disciplinary and justice system involvement through restorative practices, relationship building, accountability and individualized support planning.

In addition to supporting youth directly, the Peer Point Coach helps coordinate and facilitate restorative justice circles, supports implementation of restorative plans and collaborates with youth volunteers, youth advocates and the Youth Leadership Team to create meaningful opportunities for healing, growth, leadership and community connection. The Coach is expected to navigate complex relationship dynamics and system interactions with flexibility, professionalism and a strong commitment to youth agency and restorative justice principles.


Position Responsibilities

Assessment & Intake
  • Engage with youth and family to understand needs, strengths, and goals of youth in completing Restorative Plan
  • Prepare youth to participate in Restorative Circles
  • Complete assessments to determine key services and interventions to address root causes of justice or disciplinary system engagement
  • Collaborate with Youth Leadership Team and Peer Advocates to provide youth with personalized, evidence-based Restorative Plan options
Restorative Circles
  • Recruit youth volunteers for Restorative Circles
  • Co-facilitate restorative circles
  • Plan and prepare circles with youth volunteers, youth advocates, addressing barriers for youth participation, and administering stipends
Restorative Plan Support & Case Management
  • Identify & coordinate opportunities for youth to meet Restorative Plan goals; make referrals to services - both internal and external to FLY - and ensure youth can use services as needed
  • Meet with family, school, and other stakeholders to understand youth context to ensure effective Restorative Plan options
  • Provide coaching to those youth needing additional support to identify, commit to, and complete Restorative Plan goals that address root causes
Collaboration with Youth Leadership Team (YLT), Youth Advocates, & Volunteers
  • Work with Youth Leadership Team, Youth Advocates, and program volunteers to ensure alignment, preparation, and implementation of restorative practices throughout program experience for youth
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and stored
  • Participate, with Program Manager and YLT, in the regular review and update of any program materials including training, recruitment plans, and implementation plans; ensure shared vision of work among all program participants and contributors
Data Collection & Reporting
  • Ensure timely entry and tracking of relevant program data, including Restorative Plan progress, youth volunteer recruitment, restorative circle engagement, 1:1 coaching, etc. against internal and external program goals
  • Collect, review, and store relevant paperwork for all youth and volunteers to ensure FLY meets compliance standards
  • Enter and track budget program budget expenditures
Other duties as assigned and needed.


Note: Many FLY events and activities occur during evenings and weekends and require flexibility in staff schedules. Some travel between counties will be required. Remote work will be an option when appropriate.

Compensation & Benefits

This position is a full-time non-exempt role at a rate of $28.19/hour. Our Total Rewards Package also includes the following:

Position Requirements
