Surgical Technologist - Full-TimeResponsible for maintaining a sterile field and assisting surgeons during operative procedures. Responsible for preparing surgical instruments, ensuring operating room cleanliness, maintaining the sterile processing areas, receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment, and supporting patients' safety throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.Essential Job Functions:Prepare the operating room for surgery by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, drapes, and sterile solutionsAssist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies during proceduresUse retractors, suction, or other equipment to assist in proceduresMaintain a sterile environment and monitor sterile techniques to prevent infectionFollow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, and packaging disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipmentDecontaminate, clean and restock operating rooms and equipment after proceduresFollow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies, and equipmentOperate all surgical and sterile processing instruments, equipment, and supplies safely and according to the manufacturer's instructionsMonitor, interpret, and document results of physical, chemical, and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing areasCount sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure accuracyAssist with improving the quality of sterile processing servicesEnsure all surgical equipment is functioning properlyHandle specimens appropriately and ensure they are sent to the Lab for analysisAssist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and transport as neededCollaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists for smooth workflowRespond promptly to changes during procedures and anticipate surgeon needsComply with hospital and departmental policies and procedures and infection control practices.Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipmentReport all issues regarding instruments, equipment, patient care, etc. to the Surgery DirectorPerforms other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
