Primary Location 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75074 Job Summary This is a non‑supervisory, entry‑level position for Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) sworn law enforcement officers. Officers will ensure the safety and welfare of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the Collin College campus, maintain peace and order by enforcing college rules, regulations, state and federal laws, and provide law enforcement protection and related services. The position requires overtime or emergency response as determined by the College. Officers will uphold the Mission and Core Values of Collin College through professional communication, integrity, leadership, respect, and accountability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patrol campus grounds and buildings, checking doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are properly secured. Enforce laws, parking regulations, and conduct parking enforcement, write tickets, and provide parking directions. Provide security for special events and conduct crime prevention programs and surveys for students, faculty, and staff. Respond to calls for first aid, medical assistance, and other emergency situations. Conduct preliminary criminal investigations and accident/injury investigations, prepare reports, and prepare criminal cases for court presentation. Make court appearances and present testimony in court. Write thorough and accurate reports on every criminal complaint, accident, or other significant incident. Maintain standard operating procedures and quality guidelines while working under moderate supervision. Communicate with internal and external contacts to carry out duties, including handling offensive and/or defensive action during physical confrontations. Maintain frequent public contact and communicate effectively with the public. Administer other duties as assigned and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and core values. Supplemental Functions Review crime scenes, investigations, and prepare law enforcement reports with extended periods of concentration. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws, current legislation, best practices, districtwide systems, and organizational structure. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Innovative, analytical thinking and proficiency with Microsoft Office and police department software. Proficiency in firearms use, safety, and critical analysis of issues. Ability to drive, operate motorized equipment, and assigned vehicles safely. Vision and perception abilities to detect movement in low light, excellent listening skills, and close visual acuity for data analysis. Ability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain steady focus with high reliability. Physical Demands Heavy work, frequent physical effort, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, dust, extreme temperatures, poor lighting, gas, vibrations, and hazardous conditions may occur. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Requirements 24 earned college credit hours from an accredited college or university. Pass the DPS Concept 2 Row Test with 25% or greater. Pass a standardized written aptitude test with 70% overall or greater. Preferred Qualifications Two years of continued police officer experience OR two years of military experience with an honorable discharge OR one year experience as a military police officer with an honorable discharge. Waiver of college hours for lateral police officers with 15 years or more experience (discretionary). Licenses and Certifications Must possess a TCOLE peace officer license or be eligible to obtain licensure prior to employment. Valid Texas Driver’s License with a driving record that meets CCPD criteria. Pass Collin College Police Department’s field training program. Maintain TCOLE Peace Officer’s license throughout employment. Pass extensive medical screening, drug testing, psychological exam, polygraph exam, and background investigation. Availability to drive company vehicle as required. Motor Vehicle Report will be run during contingent offer and annually or bi‑annually. Compensation and Employment Salary: $66,040.00 – $80,537.50 (based on experience). Full‑time. Application submission deadline: 12:00 AM, April 21, 2026.
