Overview Under the broad direction of the Director, the Campus Visit Specialist/Admissions Counselor oversees all aspects of the campus visit experience, on‑campus admissions events, and social media responses for the Highlands closed group of accepted students. The role manages a team of student employees and is responsible for staffing the NMHU Welcome Center (Room 110) and planning a robust campus visit experience using the Technologies Software, training student employees to lead tours and information sessions, coordinating open houses, yield events, and enrollment prep events, handling online interactions with entering students, and acting as a student recruiter for local and out‑of‑state recruitment. Responsibilities Oversee and administer all day‑to‑day operations of programs and activities related to the position. Develop a comprehensive campus visit experience targeted at prospective students and their families, including: Serve as the first point of contact for NMHU admissions visitors. Coordinate reservations for tours and information sessions. Update session content under the Director of Recruitment & Admissions and University Relations. Collaborate with admissions office and university leadership to welcome and guide visitors. Respond to phone and in‑person inquiries, direct to appropriate staff or office, and suggest additional activities to enhance visits. Maintain awareness of admissions staff schedules and departmental resources. Receive and record incoming admissions documents for processing. Operate and maintain the Welcome Center, ensuring technology is functional, the space is presented cleanly, and materials are stocked. Collect and analyze campus visit feedback and provide regular reporting on tour data. Coordinate on‑campus admissions events, open houses, and enrollment prep events for prospective and admitted students and their families, including: Create and maintain overall event schedules. Plan and reserve campus facility space. Manage the RSVP system and staff assignments. Coordinate with University Marketing on event communication and promotions. Collect and analyze data to assess event effectiveness. Manage a team of 10+ student employees: identify, hire, train, and mentor; schedule for tours, sessions, front desk coverage, and special tours. Develop and maintain a Tour Guide manual, manage student responses on social media platforms, and oversee group and travel itineraries for recruitment territories. Represent Highlands at college fairs, conferences, and other functions; maintain contact with university constituencies including prospective students, parents, counselors, alumni, and community members. Plan and conduct local high school visits and community outreach; coordinate evening telephoning of students. Organize receptions for accepted students and serve on various university committees. Produce promotional, educational, and informational presentations and materials related to program activities. Oversee collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develop and present comprehensive reports and evaluations. Develop operating goals and objectives for the unit and implement methods and procedures to enhance operations. Supervise and lead staff and student employees as assigned, performing miscellaneous duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (required). Demonstrated experience and knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency using computers and IT equipment (Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers). Proficient user of laptop, projector, and cell phone. Proven track record of event management and customer service skills. Ability to multi‑task in a highly dynamic admissions environment. Strong leadership, administrative, and time management skills. Proven analytical abilities and sound judgement. Ability to train, supervise, and coach student employees. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Budgetary management skills for event planning and scheduling. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, staff, and the general public. Professional presence and demeanor with confidentiality and discretion. Attention to detail to produce desired results and maintain exceptional customer service. Experience with electronic calendar systems for meetings, conferences, and travel. Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments.
