Camp Nurse

Resident Camp NurseThe Resident Camp Nurse will reside on Frost Valley premises. The nurse will administer medications, provide basic first aid, maintain appropriate records and respond to emergencies among campers and staff at Frost Valley YMCA. All services provided will be in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by Frost Valley YMCA, the NY State Office of Professions, the NY State Department of Health, and the American Camp Association.RequirementsAdminister medications in a timely and safe manner, demonstrating practical knowledge of pharmacologyAccurately document all care given per Frost Valley YMCA policies and procedures, ensure documentation is filed properly, and maintain confidentiality of medical recordsProvide basic and emergency healthcare to guests and staff in compliance with physician orders and Frost Valley policies and proceduresRespond to calls coming in to the Wellness Center by radio and phoneOn occasion serve as LPN/RN on-call overnight when guests are on propertyEnsure the Wellness Center and other medical venues are maintained in a clean and orderly fashionFacilitate smooth transition of care to outside medical providers, as well as provide follow up as neededWork in collaboration with other medical disciplines, Wellness Center Staff and other departments to ensure safety, wellbeing and positive health outcomes for guests and staffCommunicate special health needs to appropriate staffAssist the Director of Nursing Services with keeping track of inventory suppliesProvide competent, age specific and culturally sensitive care while maintaining standards of professional practiceInterpret and enforce all camp policies, rules, and regulationsFacilitate staff and guest awareness of unsafe or at risk behaviors and conditionsParticipate in emergency drills and trainingsImplement emergency procedures and safety protocols for the organizationPractice within standards set forth by the New York State Office of Professions, New York State Department of Health and the American Campers AssociationPerform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing ServicesQualificationsHold current New York State LPN or RN LicenseExcellent organizationProficient in Gmail, Microsoft Office and databasesAble to live on sitePossess a valid US Driver's LicenseWork Environment & Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of timeThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Reasonable Accommodations StatementTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
