About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days, Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 10 hours (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM) Experience: - Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience required - Experience in circulating and operating room settings required - Scrub experience preferred - Experience in General, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required - Additional experience in Client, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, and ENT preferred - Trauma Level I experience preferred - Trauma Level II experience required - Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months License: - Active Iowa license or compact multistate license required Certifications: - BLS (American Heart Association) required Must-Have: - Work history/resume must include a minimum of 24 months of current operating room experience - Skills checklist specific to the discipline listed (Operating Room Nurse, Scrub) required - Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager from within the last 24 months preferred - Valid driver's license required Description: Candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in the operating room. The operating room environment requires expertise in various surgical procedures and patient management. The nurse will assist in preparations for surgical procedures and provide support to the surgical team. An expectation is set to maintain efficient turnover times between cases, typically less than 20 minutes. The nurse may be required to float between different facilities as needed. Call duty includes being on-call overnight and weekends, from the end of the shift on Friday through Monday morning. The role requires flexibility and a willingness to adapt to various service lines including Cardiac, Neuro, Orthopedics, Robotics, Gyn, Uro, General, and Transplants. A familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records systems is essential. This position does not accommodate first-time travelers.
