Chief Medical Officer

A growing Federally Qualified Health Center in the Atlanta area is seeking an experienced Chief Medical Officer to provide clinical leadership while helping shape the future of the organization. This is an opportunity for a physician leader who understands that great clinical leadership is about more than metrics. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising physicians and be highly collaborative, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable working with a diverse group of providers and personalities. This person will help create accountability around clinical performance while also supporting a culture where providers feel heard, respected, and empowered to do their best work. The CMO will have an approximately 50/50 split between clinical practice and administrative leadership. The anticipated schedule will include approximately two to three days focused on administrative responsibilities and two days providing clinical care. The organization currently has a team of approximately 15 providers, including 6 physicians and 6 Nurse Practitioners, along with a social worker supporting the behavioral health team. What You Will Do Provide clinical leadership and oversight across the organization Balance clinical practice with administrative and strategic responsibilities Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other clinical team members Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to providers Help establish consistency around patient volume, documentation, follow up, quality, and clinical expectations Work with providers who have different strengths, working styles, and priorities Help navigate challenging interpersonal dynamics and strong personalities in a constructive and professional manner Monitor and help improve performance related to UDS measures and other federally established quality expectations Review UDS performance quarterly and work with the clinical team to ensure the organization remains on track with annual goals Partner with executive leadership on clinical strategy, quality improvement, provider performance, and organizational growth Collaborate with the COO and other members of the leadership team Help develop and implement clinical policies, processes, and standards Support a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Build strong relationships with providers and staff throughout the organization Participate in the transition of clinical leadership responsibilities as the current Clinical Director prepares for retirement Ideal Candidate We are looking for an experienced physician leader who understands the unique environment of an FQHC and is comfortable balancing patient care with organizational leadership. The ideal candidate will have: FQHC experience, either as a physician leader or as a practicing provider within an FQHC environment Experience supervising physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or other clinical providers A strong understanding of UDS measures and FQHC quality expectations Experience with provider performance, quality improvement, and clinical operations The ability to hold providers accountable while maintaining strong relationships Strong emotional intelligence and exceptional interpersonal skills A growth mindset and willingness to continually improve processes and outcomes The ability to work effectively with a wide variety of personalities and working styles Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate difficult conversations A collaborative and approachable leadership style The ability to balance empathy with accountability A genuine interest in developing people and building strong clinical teams Strong organizational and decision making skills The ability to see both the clinical and operational sides of healthcare This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who wants to make a lasting impact beyond the exam room and help build a stronger, more accountable, and more collaborative clinical organization. #J-18808-Ljbffr Elios Healthcare
