SALARY & BENEFITS $99,946-$126,464 (Lateral Entry) $15,000 Hiring Incentive offered to eligible Lateral Officers – Terms and conditions apply. Certified Officers may be hired up to $116,921, based on certification and years of prior law enforcement experience. 8 Hour Shifts 9 Days Off Monthly w/ Day Off Schedule Picks Special Detail Opportunities pay rate to $91.20 Competitive Medical and Dental Insurance 80 hours of Vacation after one year Retirement Pension through Village LATERAL POLICE OFFICER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Must be a full-time Sworn Police Officer in good standing that is certified or have the ability to be certified by Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and served as a Sworn Police Officer for a period of 2 years or more without a break in service of six months or more. U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following: Minimum sixty (60) college semester hours from an accredited institution by the application date, or Two (2) years of active military service with an Honorable Discharge by the application date; Must possess or be eligible to possess before hire, a valid FOID card Possess a valid Driver’s License Proof of completion of the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test with an attainment date less than twelve months prior to the date of application or complete a physical agility test administered by the Skokie Police Department Correctable vision to 20 / 20 and the ability to distinguish colors No Residency Requirement Enter into an “Authorization for Release of Personal Information Agreement”, and an “Abstinence from Tobacco Products Agreement” Visible tattoos are now permitted with some restrictions LATERAL ENTRY POLICE OFFICER PROCESS Application & Document Submission Physical Ability Test Pre-Screening Interview Polygraph Exam Background Investigation Commission Oral Interview Lateral Entry Candidate Pool (valid for 2 years from pool entry) Psychological Assessment Medical Exam #J-18808-Ljbffr
