Credentialing SpecialistCrossroads Talent Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist to provide credentialing and administrative support to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) in Portsmouth, Virginia. The Performance Work Statement identifies five full-time positions supporting credentialing services at NMCP.The Credentialing Specialist will assist with reviewing and verifying the professional qualifications of current and prospective clinical support staff and healthcare providers. This position plays an important role in ensuring provider education, training, licenses, certifications, registrations, and other credentialing documentation are accurate, current, and compliant with applicable DHA, DoD, and NMCP requirements.This is a full-time, on-site position. Telework is not authorized under the PWS.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with the verification and review of professional education, specialized training, licensure, and background information for prospective and current clinical support staff and healthcare providers.Obtain, review, and organize required credentialing documentation to help establish the authenticity, continuity, and appropriateness of a provider's professional education, training, and qualifications.Assist in determining whether credentialing documentation and required investigations are complete and adequate before employment or placement at NMCP.Monitor and track professional licenses, certifications, registrations, DEA credentials, and contingency training for privileged and non-privileged providers.Assist with researching and preparing responses to inquiries from outside institutions and agencies regarding the documented work history, training, or performance of current and former clinical staff and providers.Maintain accurate and organized credentialing records and assist with ensuring required documentation remains current.Utilize healthcare and administrative databases to support credentialing and other administrative requirements.Protect sensitive information and comply with applicable requirements for handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).Follow NMCP Standard Operating Procedures and applicable DHA, DoD, and facility credentialing policies.Perform routine administrative functions including scanning, copying, faxing, printing, typing, and maintaining documentation.Communicate professionally with healthcare providers, clinical personnel, Government personnel, external organizations, and other stakeholders.Provide responsive customer service and accurate information to personnel interacting with the credentialing office.The PWS specifically requires administrative support in accordance with MTF procedures, use of databases, document processing, and professional interactions with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Minimum of one year of work experience in a healthcare environment, such as a hospital, medical office, or clinic-based setting.Experience must include knowledge of credentialing.Working understanding of healthcare occupations, standard clinical duties, medical terminology, and the different education and qualification requirements associated with healthcare disciplines.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer applications.Basic typing and administrative skills.Strong customer service skills and professional telephone etiquette.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with personnel both inside and outside the organization.No professional certification, board certification, or professional license is required for this position.Additional RequirementsMust be a U.S. citizen and able to read, write, and speak English effectively.Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Government facility and system access, including a Common Access Card (CAC).Must successfully complete applicable background/security investigation requirements.Must complete required DHA, DoD, NMCP, information systems, privacy, HIPAA, and other mandatory training.Must meet applicable occupational health, immunization, tuberculosis screening, and other medical readiness requirements established for personnel working within the Medical Treatment Facility.Must maintain strict confidentiality and properly safeguard PII, PHI, CUI, credentialing records, and other sensitive Government information.Must be able to work on-site at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth; this position is not eligible for telework.Must maintain a professional, business-casual appearance in accordance with facility requirements.BenefitsMedical/Dental/Vision Benefits Offered401kLife Insurance plansEmployee Health and Wellness programCrossroads Talent Solutions, LLC is a Veteran friendly employer and provides equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability status, genetic information, marital status, ancestry, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, and local laws.
