Primary Care Physician Assistant

Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Full-Time Primary Care Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team at Family Prime Hospital & Medical Center in Chestertown, New York. In this role, you will be pivotal in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of health conditions while promoting preventative healthcare practices among our patient population. Your contributions will help facilitate comprehensive patient care, directly impacting the health and well-being of the community.

Work Environment This position is located onsite within our hospital, where our Primary Care practice is based. You will work Monday to Friday, with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, concluding at 5:00 PM. The collaborative atmosphere fosters teamwork among healthcare providers, including five MDs and five nurse practitioners, ensuring a supportive work environment where you can thrive and advance your clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities As a Physician Assistant in our Primary Care practice, you will take on several key responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Conducting comprehensive physical examinations and maintaining accurate patient health records.

Ordering and interpreting various diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests and imaging studies.

Diagnosing health conditions, both acute and chronic, and developing effective treatment plans.

Prescribing medications in compliance with state regulations and practice policies.

Educating patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures.

Promoting good health practices through community outreach and health education initiatives.

Maintaining a collaborative relationship with nursing and medical staff for comprehensive patient care.

Staying informed about the latest advancements in medical practices and participating in continuous professional development.

Patient Population / Client Focus You will be working primarily with a diverse patient population, which includes individuals of all ages seeking preventive care, chronic illness management, and acute treatment. Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field.

A minimum of two years of experience as a Physician Assistant in a clinical setting.

Current California State Physician Assistant license and PA-C certification are required.

A valid DEA number is also necessary for prescribing medications.

Strong communication skills and a commitment to ethical patient care.

A collaborative spirit and a positive attitude, essential for our team-oriented environment.

Willingness to actively engage in ongoing education and professional development.

Preferred Experience

Experience in primary care, acute care, or chronic disease management is highly desired.

Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and diagnostic tools used in clinical practice.

Bilingual abilities can be an advantage but are not required.
