Field Operations Manager

FitFields is seeking an experienced construction-phase professional to support the delivery of athletic facility projects throughout the Southeast. This position is heavily field-oriented and will support construction coordination, site observation, project delivery, and day-to-day field operations across multiple active projects.

FitFields is a licensed landscape architecture firm specializing in athletic facilities, parks, and public spaces. Our clients include municipal, K-12, collegiate, and professional organizations throughout the Southeast.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction Administration & Project Delivery

• Support construction-phase activities from kickoff through closeout
• Coordinate with owners, contractors, consultants, and internal teams
• Support implementation of construction documents and design intent
• Participate in OAC meetings and maintain project follow-up items
• Track RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change orders, and project documentation

Field Operations & Site Coordination

• Conduct site visits and field observations throughout active construction
• Document construction progress, field conditions, and project issues
• Identify deficiencies, coordination conflicts, and project risks
• Coordinate issue resolution with contractors and internal teams
• Assist with bid coordination, punch lists, and project closeout
• Support construction logistics and day-to-day field coordination
• Travel regularly to active project sites throughout the Southeast

Quality & Construction Oversight

• Observe athletic field, track, grading, drainage, and surfacing installations
• Help protect design intent throughout construction
• Support QA/QC procedures and project documentation
• Review applications for payment relative to observed construction progress

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction administration, construction management, field operations, or related project delivery roles
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and field conditions
• Experience with commercial, municipal, educational, or athletic facility projects
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to independently manage shifting priorities in active construction environments
• Comfortable communicating professionally with contractors, owners, consultants, and field personnel
• Comfortable working independently and traveling regularly throughout the Southeast
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
• Must reside in North Carolina or South Carolina

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Athletic facility, sports field, park, or recreation project experience
• Familiarity with AIA contracts and construction administration procedures
• Experience reviewing pay applications and change orders
• Degree or certification in Construction Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, or related field
• Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Procore, or similar CM platform experience
• CCCA certification preferred

POSITION DETAILS

• 20–30 hours per week
• Combination of remote work and project site travel
• Regional travel required
