SUNYPlattsburgh is seeking adjunct laboratory instructors to teach organic chemistry laboratories in the afternoon and evenings during the fall and spring semesters. Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. They will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNYPlattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world. Some adjunct instructors assigned to laboratories, theaters, or studios (art, theater, science) must participate in mandatory safety training before they can begin work. Training sessions are provided by the college during the first week of each semester. No additional compensation is provided for attendance at the mandatory safety training sessions. The vita bank exists to provide a pool of candidates who might be available to fill anticipated positions as needed.

Required qualifications: Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or biochemistry with experience in handling common organic glassware, solvents, concentrated acids/bases and waste disposal or applicable degree and appropriate experience. Successful candidates will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.

Preferred qualifications: Master's degree, experience in teaching introductory undergraduate chemistry.
