This role will establish the vision, operating model, governance framework, talent strategy, and category management disciplines required to transform procurement into a strategically aligned, data-driven enterprise capability.As a member of the ESM leadership team, the Director will serve as a key advisor to the Chief Procurement Officer, partnering closely with senior business leaders across Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Corporate Security, Workplace Services, and Third-Party Risk Management to align supplier strategies with DTCC's enterprise objectives.This position represents a unique opportunity to create and lead a new organization from the ground up, establish best-in-class category management practices, develop a high-performing team, and drive measurable business value through supplier strategy, market intelligence, cost optimization, innovation, and risk management.Your Primary Responsibilities:Design and implement DTCC's enterprise Category Management operating model, including governance, processes, methodologies, and performance measures.Build and lead a high-performing team of Category Managers responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier strategies, and category planning.Serve as a strategic advisor to the Chief Procurement Officer and member of the ESM leadership team, contributing to enterprise supply management strategy, organizational development, operating model evolution, and transformation initiatives.Develop multi-year category strategies aligned to enterprise objectives, business demand, market dynamics, and financial goals.Partner with Finance, Legal, Technology, Third-Party Risk, Human Resources, Facilities, and business leadership to identify value creation opportunities and strategic priorities.Establish category segmentation methodologies and category playbooks across major spend areas.Drive enterprise value through cost optimization, demand management, supplier innovation, contract leverage, and risk reduction initiatives.Leverage spend analytics, market intelligence, benchmarking, and supplier data to identify opportunities and inform sourcing strategies.Lead strategic supplier engagement activities, including supplier business reviews, executive governance forums, and innovation sessions.Partner with Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Operations, Supplier Management, Third-Party Risk, and Contract Management teams to ensure end-to-end value realization.Develop sourcing pipelines and opportunity portfolios that balance financial, operational, resilience, and regulatory objectives.Establish supplier landscape assessments and category-specific risk management strategies.Create executive-level reporting and dashboards that measure category performance, value delivery, savings, supplier risk, and strategic outcomes.Champion procurement transformation initiatives, including automation, AI-enabled analytics, spend visibility, taxonomy development, and process modernization.Promote a category-led culture across ESM and business stakeholders through education, stakeholder engagement, and change management activities.Recruit, mentor, and develop procurement talent while establishing career paths and capability-building programs for the Category Management organization.Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging supplier markets, regulatory developments, and procurement leading practices.Mitigate risk by following established procedures, identifying control gaps, and demonstrating strong ethical leadership and accountability.Qualifications:Minimum 15 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, supply management, consulting, or related disciplines.Minimum 10 years of leadership experience managing teams and enterprise-wide initiatives.Bachelor's degree required; MBA, Master's degree, CPSM, CPSD, CSP, or equivalent professional certification preferred.Experience designing or leading Category Management organizations, procurement transformations, or large-scale sourcing programs preferred.Financial services industry experience preferred.Talents Needed For Success:Deep expertise in Category Management, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and procurement transformation.Experience developing category strategies and leading complex cross-functional initiatives.Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success delivering measurable business value.Ability to influence executive stakeholders and build partnerships across diverse business functions.Strong analytical capabilities with experience utilizing spend analytics, market intelligence, and performance metrics.Experience establishing governance frameworks, operating models, and organizational capabilities.Strong negotiation and executive communication skills.Ability to simplify complex procurement concepts into actionable business recommendations.Proven leadership capability with a demonstrated ability to build teams, develop talent, and lead organizational change.Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term vision and near-term execution.Strong understanding of supplier risk, regulatory expectations, and operational resiliency considerations.The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
