Job Title: Mental Health Technician – Behavioral Health Inpatient (Lakewood Medical – PRN) Location University Health, Lakewood Medical Center, 101 Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri Position Type Part time – 4 hours per week (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) Job Description Ready to Make a Difference? Join us as a Mental Health Technician! We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to support patients on the Mental Health Unit. In this role you will work closely with licensed nursing staff, providing direct patient care and fostering a therapeutic environment. What You’ll Be Doing Assisting patients with daily activities and providing direct care under nursing supervision Maintaining a supportive, safe, and positive environment for all patients and staff Performing a variety of duties—from clerical tasks to clinical assistance—ensuring no two days are the same Using compassion and communication skills to help patients feel at ease and supported Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Must obtain and keep BCLS certification within 120 days of hire Clearance through the Family Care Registry Completion of orientation and training as directed by leadership, management, or educators within the established timeline Department orientation with classroom and clinical training equivalent to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) regulations—or meet specific background criteria listed below Must Meet One Of The Following Enrolled in a nursing program and completed fundamentals of nursing course Was a nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure exam in the past 3 years Certified as a nursing assistant per state regulation Certified or trained in UAP curriculum Documented experience as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician in the past 3 years Completed UAP training in Missouri within the last 3 years Completed a professional or practical nursing program outside the U.S. and awaiting licensure in this country UAPs from staffing agencies must comply with training requirements Preferred Qualifications Experience in patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ambulation, feeding, etc.) Previous mental health experience BCLS certification Why You’ll Love Working With Us Supportive, fun, and collaborative team Opportunities for career growth and development Positive and welcoming work environment where you can truly make a difference If you’re ready to provide compassionate care and be part of a dynamic team, we want to hear from you!
