Adjunct Faculty, Computer Science

Job Description Purpose and Scope The teaching faculty is responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and its community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning. Adjunct faculty are hired on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis at the discretion of the System. They may teach up to five classes per academic year, with day, evening, or weekend options available. Essential Job Functions Teach Computer Information Technology courses at various times and locations Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, or via electronic communication Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Attend required meetings, trainings, and orientations Perform other related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people Interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies experience Commitment to academic excellence and dynamic climate for lifelong learning Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology Use of strategies to engage students in their learning Required Qualifications Master's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, computer‑based information systems, or a related field Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in a specific area of technology Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
