Health Information Specialist I

Position Highlights Full‑Time: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM EST Location: Manchester, KY 40962 High‑volume production environment Process medical record requests by telephone and digital platforms Document information across multiple platforms using dual monitors Full Benefits: PTO, Health, Vision and Dental Insurance, 401k Savings Plan and tuition assistance Responsibilities Receive and process patient health information requests per Company and Facility policies. Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information. Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software. Adhere to the Company’s and Customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies. Inform manager of work issues, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes. Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as required. Apply medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records and safeguard them in compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents from paper sources or electronic health records. Ensure medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete. Create digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record. Respond to records requests from both within the facility and external sources, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately. Answer inbound/outbound calls. Assist with patient walk-ins, faxes, opening mail, and data entry as needed. Meet productivity expectations per site. Schedule pick‑ups as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Ability to commute between locations as needed. Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons. Basic computer proficiency and comfort with phones, fax machines, printers, and office equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Detail and quality oriented for accurate and compliant medical record information. Strong data entry skills. Ability to work with minimum supervision, responding to changing priorities and role needs. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and respond quickly in a fast‑paced environment. Bonus Points Experience in a healthcare environment. Previous production/metric‑based work experience. In‑person customer service experience. Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers. Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders.
