Refrigeration Engineer - Advanced Development
\n \nLocation: Marietta, Ohio
\nPay: $47.69/hour
\nDuration: 12-month contract
\nRelocation: Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate
\n \nKYO Group is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Engineer to support advanced development initiatives for Thermo Fisher Scientific's cold-storage and ultra-low temperature product portfolio.
\n \nThis position is ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience designing vapor-compression refrigeration systems, preferably including cascade systems and low-GWP refrigerants.
\n \nResponsibilities
\n \n- Design and develop refrigeration systems for ultra-low temperature freezers and laboratory cold-storage products
\n- Develop performance specifications for refrigeration systems and components
\n- Create and execute system-level validation and performance testing
\n- Perform thermal modeling and refrigeration system analysis
\n- Evaluate refrigerants, components, system efficiency, and energy consumption
\n- Conduct engineering trade studies using simulation and empirical test data
\n- Support next-generation refrigeration technology development
\n- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams
\n- Support Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly
\n- Maintain engineering requirements, verification documentation, and traceability
\n- Support compliance with UL, IEC, FDA, CE, CSA, Energy Star, and similar requirements
\n- Travel up to 10%
\n \nQualifications
\n \n- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field
\n- 5+ years of experience developing vapor-compression refrigeration or HVAC/R systems
\n- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
\n- Experience with refrigeration system testing and troubleshooting
\n- Experience with thermal modeling, simulation, and performance analysis
\n- Strong root-cause analysis and engineering problem-solving skills
\n \nPreferred Experience
\n \n- Cascade refrigeration systems
\n- Ultra-low temperature equipment
\n- Natural refrigerants and low-GWP refrigerants
\n- EES or similar thermal modeling software
\n- Data acquisition systems and automated testing
\n- Lean/PPI or continuous improvement methodologies
\n \nMilitary technical experience may be considered when directly applicable to refrigeration, HVAC, thermal systems, or engineering development.
