About the Position

The unit specializes in managing patients with myocardial infarction and primary arrhythmias. Pre-operative and post-operative care for open-heart surgery patients is required. Vascular surgery patients and those with coronary artery disease will also be included in care responsibilities. Experience with stroke patients with cardiac involvement is preferred. Candidates must manage IV drips and have knowledge of cardiac drips. Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills are essential. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, which may increase during midnight shifts. Floating to similar units may be required based on staffing needs. Every other weekend availability is expected. Candidates may administer breathing treatments and manage chest tubes. Blood product administration and defibrillation experience are important. Candidates must be flexible in scheduling and prepared for holiday shifts. References covering recent experience are required prior to start.
