Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Kitsap Veterinary Hospital is an AAHA accredited practice with a strong focus on wellness and preventative care. The hospital offers high level of care and advanced work-ups in house with mobile specialists in cardiology, radiology, internal medicine, and dentistry. Students will gain exposure to general practice procedures and dentistry during externship. Responsibilities Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, conduct diagnostics, provide dentistry services, observe/assist or perform surgical procedures, and manage medical care of patients. They'll also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Eligibility Externships are offered to veterinary students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year. Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Kitsap Veterinary Hospital is $1,500.
