Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for a Manual Machinist on 1st Shift to operate Davenport or ACME-Gridley Screw Machines. Candidates should have some prior experience operating Davenport Screw Machines, Acme Screw Machines, or other similar type of machining equipment. We Offer Weekly Pay Meaningful Work 401k Retirement Plan with match up to 5% No Mandatory Overtime Paid Holidays, Vacation, Personal Time Shift Differential Pay Primary Duties & Responsibilities Operate assigned machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications. Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations. Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances. Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed. Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications. Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools. Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary) Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction Complete other duties as assigned. Required Skills Prior experience operating multi-spindle Screw Machine equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts. The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance. A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry. The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes. Required Experience Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least one year prior to hire.
