Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)

The Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing care to adult oncology and hematology patients receiving outpatient infusion services. The nurse will be involved in administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy, hydration, iron infusions, injections, supportive care, port access, and central line management, as well as managing infusion reactions. This role entails offering oncology-specific patient education and symptom management using Epic/Beacon for charting purposes.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy to patients.
• Provide hydration, iron infusions, and injections as required.
• Manage port access and central line devices effectively.
• Monitor and respond to infusion reactions appropriately.
• Utilize Epic/Beacon for managing oncology treatment plans and charting.
• Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and symptom management.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.

Shift Details

Shift schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time of 7:30 or 8:00 AM and an end time of 4:00 or 4:30 PM. There is flexibility with block scheduling, and no weekend work is required.

Patient Care Focus

Care is provided to patients with a range of conditions, including:

• Solid tumors such as breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancers.
• Hematologic malignancies including lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma.
• Benign hematology conditions requiring infusion treatments.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• At least 1 year of experience in an oncology setting is required.
• Chemo certification through ONS/ONCC is mandatory.
• BLS certification is required.
• Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs.
• Local candidates are not accepted; applicants must reside more than 100 miles from the workplace.
• Persistent licenses are accepted.

Additional Information

RTO (Request Time Off) restrictions ideally should not exceed 5 days. Guaranteed hours may be subject to cancellation policies where the client can cancel up to 3 shifts without obligation.

Work Environment

This is an outpatient oncology and hematology infusion center. Staff utilize various equipment including implanted port access devices, central venous access devices, infusion pumps, and vital sign monitors, ensuring effective patient monitoring and safety. Free parking is available in unrestricted spaces.
