Position Summary Caregiver duties revolve around providing care one-on-one for seniors. It is highly dependent on the individual’s special needs. It is important to adapt and respond as duties vary. * Must obtain State Certification as a Nursing Assistant within specified time frame per offer letter. Essential Functions Following the care plan as directed by supervising nurse. Assisting with bathing and grooming – include shampooing hair, finger and toenail care, brushing teeth, and shower assistance. Medication reminders – ensure medications are taken at the correct time as directed by the doctor. Light housekeeping – keep a safe and clean environment; duties include making the bed and cleaning the bathroom and kitchen. Transferring the client – transfer from chairs, toilet, bed, and vehicle. Toileting – assist with using the toilet to encourage comfort and prevent infections. Monitoring changes in client’s health – report concerning changes that may need medical attention. Companionship – provide mutual companionship for the elder throughout the day. Participates in and attends all in-service training and education programs as scheduled. Other duties as assigned. Competencies Technical Skills – Demonstrate current and ongoing competence in tasks assigned, indicating a specialized skill above the average. Communication – Effectively transfer information to necessary parties to improve quality of work and provide supervisor with actionable, accurate data. Initiative – Self‑motivated, seeks additional work when capacity allows, and brings new ideas and solutions to the supervisor. Flexibility – Adapt to changing conditions on the fly and navigate obstacles with ease and professionalism. Interpersonal Skills – Listen without interrupting, keep emotions under control, remain open to ideas, and try new things. Ethics – Treat people with respect, keep commitments, inspire trust, work with integrity, and uphold the Company’s Guiding Principles: People First, Always We Exist to Serve our Members We Have a Responsibility to be Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Expected Hours of Work Very active position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing. Must lift or carry up to 50 lbs. and push up to 250 lbs. independently. Requires using proper body mechanics to assist residents. Regularly requires long hours and frequent night and weekend work. Travel No travel is expected, although occasional travel may be required for training, continuing education, emergency situations, and other company functions. Education and Experience Requirements Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid. 1–2 years’ experience in a similar healthcare position preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards. Ability to use Electronic Records and miscellaneous software and office equipment. Ability to understand and follow directions as given. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
