We are seeking a reliable, attentive, and compassionate Housing Monitor for our Shelter to join our team. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for our residents and guests. You will oversee daily facility activities, assist residents, handle check-in procedures, and ensure shelter rules and safety standards are followed.Schedule hours are:Availability: Monday through Sunday (7 days a week)Shift Structure: Rotating shifts (days, evenings, and weekends as assigned)Flexibility: Full availability across all operational hours required to meet scheduling needsPart-time: 29 hours per week with benefitsTHIS POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:Assists residents staying in the Shelter overnight; performs client intake procedures and prepares clientintake records; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift, ensuring safety, security, andcompliance with house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinentinformation and ensures that the facility is maintained in a neat and proper order.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Residential Management Responsibilities (60%)Answers the telephone and, in a professional manner, responds to questions regarding the shelter operations.Performs client intake procedures including running sexual offender checks; checks clients into theshelter; prepares and monitors client intake forms; prepares and maintains resident roster.Records statistics as instructed.Provides information and referrals to appropriate community agencies.Updates client files as needed and obtains the client's signature on forms as well as house rules and regulations.Supervises, prepares, and distributes meal and shower tickets; assigns bed numbers; distributes towels,linens and personal hygiene items; secures and distributes client medications as required.Housekeeping & Chore Distribution Responsibilities (20%)Assigns daily cooking, cleaning, and maintenance chores to clients and ensures completion of such; asneeded, participates in the cleaning and maintenance of facilities, supplies, and equipment; inspectsfacility on a routine basis to ensure compliance with established standards; ensures return andaccountability of The Salvation Army property (linens, etc.).Building Security Responsibilities (20%)Ensures clients comply with house rules; checks client’s baggage for drugs, alcohol, weapons andpornography; records incidents and notifies supervisor of any special circumstances or unusual problems;ensures security of facility and clients; arms and disarms alarms in accordance with lodge policy; locksand secures areas inappropriate for client entry.Conducts hourly checks of the facilities to ensure that all doors are locked and that nothing is amiss; locksdoors to ensure security of the facilities.Calmly responds to emergencies and initiates appropriate actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records and ability to performthe same.Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.Knowledge of basic record-keeping practices and procedures.Ability to communicate effectively with clients to control, lead, and motivate behavior.Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of people and remain sensitiveto their concerns.Ability to work independently with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.Physical Requirements:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language effectively.Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating theproper corrective action.Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
