Warehouse And Distribution Specialist

Receives, storing of supplies, materials, and equipment. Receives and processes purchased goods, supplies, and equipment. Participates in the organization and maintenance of warehouse supplies, materials, and equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Warehousing: Receives, verifies, and inspects shipments of materials, equipment, and supplies received in order to ensure compliance with purchase order specifications. Identifies and reports shortages, damages, and other discrepancies. Unloads, checks, and shelves incoming materials, equipment, and supplies. Receives merchandise and unloads trucks using forklift and/or hand truck. Lighter loads can be hand carried. Maintains up-to-date data on location and condition of fixtures and furniture, tagging items qualifying as fixed asset, and arranging for reuse or salvage. Enters incoming and outgoing inventory to a manual and/or computer-aided inventory accounting program. Keeps track of cycles and patterns of inventory usage. Processes and fulfills warehouse orders for warehoused merchandise. Organizes requisitions to optimize picking of merchandise, delivery, and to fulfill urgent requests. Completes documentation of warehouse transactions. Affixes labels to materials and equipment for identification of fixed assets. Maintains records of items, dates, locations, and conditions. Performs a variety of warehouse storage functions including stocking, shelving, filling warehouse orders, and checking for adequate levels of supplies.
• Distribution: Prepares, pulls, and packs delivery orders. Organizes orders to minimize rearranging items, shifting, or temperature changes. May pick up various items from locations including mail, school and office supplies, and unused items. Inspects delivery vehicles for safety and servicing compliance. May be required to deliver goods, supplies, and equipment from the District warehouse to, from, and among school sites and offices according to assigned routes and schedules. Loads, unloads, and documents condition and amount of inventory delivered. May deliver special delivery packages to various sites and processes delivery paperwork, including purchase orders and signed delivery slips. Works with District personnel and outside vendors to schedule pickups and deliveries, obtain signatures, resolve service issues, and exchange or relay information.
• Facility Support Services: Participates in the maintenance of up-to-date stock records, inventory counts, and fixed asset registers. Maintains warehousing areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills: The position requires working knowledge of the procedures and practices used for receipt, storage, and retrieval of equipment, supplies, and materials at a central supply warehouse. Requires basic knowledge of warehouse record keeping techniques including computer-aided inventory recording programs. Requires basic knowledge of first-in, first-out methods for efficient material handling. Requires working knowledge of commercial carrier regulations and procedures. Requires sufficient math skill to document work activity, compute counts, extensions, fractions, sums, and quotients. Requires sufficient organizational and time management skills to meet service and schedule requirements. Must know and understand safety rules and regulations. Requires sufficient human relations skill to serve customers. Requires sufficient communication skills in order to interact with staff and vendors.

Abilities: Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position effectively and efficiently. Requires the ability to maintain stock inventory control records. Must be able to fill orders accurately from requisitions. Must be able to obtain a certificate and operate a forklift, pallet jack, and delivery vehicle safely and efficiently, within a reasonable time. Must be able to meet required schedules for delivery of durable and perishable goods and supplies or equipment to sites. Requires the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment and supplies.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of 2 years of general warehouse and delivery experience. Licenses and Certificates: Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License. Additional Requirement: Must pass an approved pre-placement medical assessment.

Salary and Terms of Service: Salary range $22.02 - $26.91 per hour, eight (8) steps, eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week (M-F), 12 months per year. Holidays, sick leave, and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only.
