Parks & Recreation, Zach Gordon Youth Services is seeking a dynamic individual
to join our team as a Youth Development Leader at the Youth Center!

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position is located in downtown Juneau at the Zach Gordon Youth Center. Hours are primarily 12:00pm-8:00pm with one 1:00pm-9:00pm shift and one 10:00am-6:00pm shift weekly.
Work shifts will be Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays required.
Monday: 1:00pm-9:00pm
Tuesday: 12:00pm-8:00pm
Wednesday: 12:00pm-8:00pm
Thursday: 12:00pm-8:00pm
Friday: 10:00am-6:00pm
Typical Responsibilities
In this position you will be working directly with youth, organizing and leading activities that support youth in making healthy choices and meaningful connections. You will be greeting patrons at the door and tracking attendance. You will be working with partners to provide an array of activities and events, and you will be cooking and counseling and having lots of fun!
This is a critical position in the day-to-day operations of the youth center. You will be building and maintaining relationships with teens and youth in middle and elementary school. You will be working with a team that is committed to Juneau's youth and creating a more equitable community. You will be doing some paperwork and data entry and you will be making sure the youth center is safe for all. You will answer the phone and facilitate rentals of the facility from time to time.

  • Registers youth for sports and other programming
  • Assists families in accessing scholarship information
  • Hang up physical flyers for upcoming events and programs.
  • Answers phones and responds to various inquiries from the public
  • Occasionally tables at public events to let the public know about youth services programming.
  • Speak with parents and guardians on the phone and in person about their child.
  • Outdoor yard maintenance of taking care of chickens, processing compost, looking after the garden.
  • Occasional special events or special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
Experience:


Any combination of work experience or post-secondary education totaling six (6) months in any field.

Experience working with youth and/or families impacted by trauma or coordinating patient referral or care services is preferred.

Substitute :


Two (2) courses from an accredited college in a human related field may substitute for experience

Certifications:

First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of appointment .
Desirable Qualifications:

Alaska Driver's License ( desired, not required )
