Regional Medical Officer

The Regional Medical Officer is responsible for the clinical operations and all clinical financial outcomes within a designated region in this hybrid role. This role maintains and further improves the clinical model, partners with the EVP and General Manager, and leads the start‑up and growth of new regions. Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational direction for the delivery of performance‑based medical management. Manage budget and risk drivers. Analyze and report business performance data to customers, senior management, and the Board of Directors. Participate in the management of all clinical divisions within the region. Engage in the analysis of local profit and loss performance. Work seamlessly and effectively with non‑clinical departments. Develop and maintain strong provider relationships. Maintain a customer‑driven passion for excellence and commitment to innovation and implementation of ideas that improve patient care. Execute and implement timely and high‑quality decisions. Hire, develop, and reward staff to support the company’s strategy. Will also be responsible for any and all clinical duties performed by Extensivists, including but not limited to: Seeing patients in hospitals, home, and care centers as needed. Seeing all high‑risk patients discharged from the hospital in the clinic until stabilized. Seeing skilled patients in SNFs once a week until they remain skilled (normally 1–2 weeks). Creating a comprehensive coordinated plan of care across all settings. Supervisory responsibilities: oversee clinical staff for the region, including Advanced Practice Clinicians (NPs and PAs) and dotted‑line oversight of all clinical personnel. Recruit, select, orient, and train employees; assign workload; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; coach, counsel, and discipline staff. Qualifications 5+ years of Hospitalist, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine experience preferred; will consider graduating residents and fellows. 1+ year of administrative experience preferred. 1+ year of managed care experience preferred. NPI (must be obtained upon start). M.D. or D.O. with completion of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency. Board certification required; medical license in the state of application; DEA license required. Board‑eligible or board‑certified in specialty. Clinical confidence and friendly bedside manner. Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems and processes. Strong communication skills. Benefits Competitive base salary, annual bonus, stock options, CME, 401(k), and more.
