Nature of Work
An employee in this position performs responsible bookkeeping, accounting, and financial record-keeping duties for a middle school. The employee maintains accurate financial records, processes financial transactions, prepares reports, manages school funds, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Financial Management
- Maintain accurate accounting records for all school funds and accounts.
- Process deposits, receipts, disbursements, purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursements.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial records.
- Monitor account balances and expenditures.
- Prepare required financial reports.
- Assist with budget development and monitoring.
- Process vendor invoices and payments.
- Maintain purchase orders and payment documentation.
- Collect and record student fees and school-generated funds.
- Prepare deposits and maintain supporting documentation.
- Manage student activity accounts and club funds.
- Ensure compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Assist staff with financial procedures and reporting.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports.
- Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and office technology.
- Strong organizational and mathematical skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field preferred.
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial record management preferred.
