Class A CDL Truck Driver

Hanover Iron Works, Inc., a rapidly growing steel fabrication and installation company is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Truck Driver to deliver structural steel throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Region.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and professionally operate a Tractor Trailer with a Flatbed Trailer (45', 48', 53', or Stretch), straight truck, or other vehicles to haul steel and equipment.
• Properly secure loads using chains, binders, and straps to ensure stability during transport.
• Physically load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, shop floors, and ground using manual lifting, forklifts, or overhead cranes.
• Coordinate with shipping and receiving for daily deliveries and pickups.
• Plan routes and delivery schedules to meet deadlines while following all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date Driver's Log, Safety Reports, and other required documents per state and federal regulations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck and trailer are in safe operating condition.
• Report any mechanical issues, defects, accidents, or violations to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure proper maintenance of vehicles, including refueling, cleaning, and minor repairs as needed.
• Ensure vehicle is kept clean and organized.
• Drivers are responsible for performing minor preventive maintenance on their trucks and trailers.
• Maintain professional communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members.
• Ensure all freight documents are signed and submitted in a timely manner.
• Assist the team in other non-driving related tasks when deliveries are not needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL license.
• 5 years of commercial truck driving experience (preferred).
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Experience delivering to construction jobsites is preferred.
• Experience hauling stretch and wide loads is not required but a plus.
• Knowledge of securing structural steel, stairs, and rails is a plus.
• Strong understanding of DOT safety procedures, load securement, and compliance.
• Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as required.
• Ability to stay out of town on occasion.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound safety judgments.
