Mentor, Marshall Induction ProgramInduction is designed to provide a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning that begins in a teacher’s first year of teaching. The Marshall Induction Program supports early career teachers at Summit Public Schools in California in developing across the California Standards for the Teaching Profession through high quality coaching and professional development aligned to Summit’s instructional priorities and the standards provided by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
The Marshall Induction Program is one of the programs offered by Marshall at Summit Public Schools to support early career educators. The continuum of programs from the Marshall Teacher Residency and Marshall Intern Program through the Marshall Induction Program is designed to provide a coherent, individualized, supportive trajectory for early career teachers with a focus on developing the skills, habits, and mindset to be a high-quality, student-centered, data-driven, anti-racist educator. Across all programs, Marshall strives to diversify the teacher workforce and support retention in the profession.
The Induction Mentor plays a critical role in implementing the induction program through in-person observation and coaching of participating teachers, monitoring progress towards goals and credentialing requirements, and collaborating with school leaders to support participating teachers in alignment with school priorities. The Induction Mentor also supports the implementation of the Marshall Intern Program as needed by coaching intern teachers and/or facilitating coursework sessions for interns. As such, the Induction Mentor is a mobile-centric role requiring regular travel between various school sites and locations in support of induction and intern candidates.
The Induction Mentor is part of the Marshall program faculty team, which includes Mentors for the Marshall Intern Program and Marshall Teacher Residency. These teams collaborate to support alignment and coherence across Marshall’s teacher credentialing programs, as well as to support the professional development of all Mentors. Across the team of Induction Mentors, we seek expertise in a variety of credential areas and geographic location to ensure the success of the program for all induction participating teachers and Summit school sites. The Induction Mentor reports directly to the Executive Director of Marshall Credentialing Programs.

Marshall develops the educators and leaders schools need — and builds the systems that help them grow, lead, and thrive - at Summit Public Schools and beyond. Marshall and Summit Public Schools operate educator preparation programs that serve early career teachers at Summit and across California and are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This includes the Marshall Induction Program for teachers with preliminary credentials, and the Marshall Intern Program and Marshall Teacher Residency for initial credentialing.
What you’ll do:The Induction Mentor will have the following responsibilities:
Coaching
Support a caseload of up to 20 induction participating teachers through regular observation and coaching, a minimum of twice per month.
Conduct regular formal and informal classroom observations of induction participating teachers in-person and through video and provide feedback on their development.
Progress monitor to ensure all induction participating teachers are on-track with their induction goals and credentialing requirements, intervening when necessary.
Build strong relationships with all induction participating teachers.
Lead coaching conversations to support the growth of induction participating teachers.
Build strong relationships and collaborate regularly with school leaders to ensure a coherent, aligned experience and growth trajectory for induction participating teachers.
Facilitation of Credentialing Coursework
Co-plan and facilitate project-based coursework and values-aligned learning experiences for the cohort of intern candidates as needed to support the capacity of the intern program. As intern candidates are full time teachers of record, coursework sessions may be held evenings and/or weekends in-person.
Model high quality, student-centered instructional practices grounded in theory and best practices.
Provide formative and summative feedback for intern candidates on coursework assessments as needed to support the capacity of the intern program.
Collaborate with the lead Intern Mentor to support the intern candidates and program effectiveness.
Professional Development and Program Improvement
Participate in trainings, professional development, individual coaching, and team meetings with the Senior Program Director, Executive Director and/or Marshall program faculty team.
Engage and collaborate with the broader educational community regularly to remain up-to-date on best practices in P-12 education, higher education, and educator preparation.
Participate in the 360 review and program evaluation processes to provide feedback on the credentialing programs.
Support the ongoing work of improving the Induction Program and Intern Program in alignment with CTC standards, coaching best practices, and the values and vision of Summit and Marshall.

Requirements
Clear California Single Subject Teaching Credential
Minimum of 2 years of experience coaching and/or mentoring early career educators
Minimum of 5 years of full time teaching experience.
Master’s degree in Education or a related field
Meet health clearance, and pass the reference, background/criminal checks, per education code
Access to reliable personal transportation is required for regular travel between Summit Public School sites.
