System Safety Engineer – Long Beach, CA Boeing Global Services (BGS) – Commercial Engineering Safety Team is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our team in Long Beach, CA . Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2) or Mid-Level (Level 3) System Safety Engineers . Primary Responsibilities Supports defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness; provides support incorporating into designs, operations, and procedures. Assists creating and maintaining aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes. Documents safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards. Supports global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods. Collaborates on system and airplane level analyses (e.g., Aircraft or System Functional Hazard Assessment [AFHA/SFHA], Common Resource Analysis, Multi-Functional Fault Tree Analysis [MFTA], Functional Design Assurance Level [FDAL], Common Mode Assessment [CMA], Particular Risk Analysis [PRA], and Zonal Safety Analysis [ZSA]). Provides safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership. Assists development of certification strategies for systems and airplane level safety issues. Represents BSG-C in trade studies, coordination of safety analyses, and functional integration assessments. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience) Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement. Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience) Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in aerospace systems engineering. Experience with system safety analysis. Experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, and collaborating on multi-discipline teams. Experience working with FAR Part 25.1309 and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754. Experience working with cross discipline engineering teams. Experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g., flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels, etc.) and/or systems integration. Experience collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources, as well as interpreting data and presenting analysis and recommendations to management.
