Civil Litigation Associate (professional liability)

Location: Encino, CA

Compensation: $100,000 – $300,000

Schedule: Full-Time | Primarily On-Site

Mazoogi is partnering with a well-established California litigation boutique seeking multiple attorneys with 1–20 years of civil litigation experience. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys who want meaningful responsibility, sophisticated litigation work, and the ability to manage cases.

While experience in professional liability defense is a plus, the firm is open to strong civil litigators from insurance defense, commercial litigation, employment litigation, construction defect, coverage, bad faith, and related practice areas.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions
• Attend mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences
• Prepare matters for trial and assist with trial proceedings
• Handle a mix of professional liability, insurance coverage, bad faith, business litigation, employment defense, real estate litigation, and construction defect matters
• Work closely with experienced litigators on complex and high-exposure disputes

Qualifications:

• Active California Bar admission in good standing
• 1–20 years of post-bar civil litigation experience
• Strong legal writing and motion practice skills
• Ability to independently manage matters and deadlines
• Deposition experience
• Ability to work primarily from the firm's Encino office

Preferred:

• Professional liability defense experience
• Insurance coverage or bad faith experience
• Trial preparation or trial experience
• Carrier-appointed defense or panel counsel experience
