The Dishwasher is responsible for contributing to the success of our objectives by maintaining cleanliness standards in the kitchen, ensuring the seamless flow of operations. Collaborating closely with our Executive Chef and Sous Chef, the Dishwasher upholds our goals in cleanliness, sanitation, guest service, and overall satisfaction. Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans. Hand wash delicate items or those that cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dishwashing area. Empty trash bins regularly and ensure waste is disposed of properly. Assist kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling and chopping vegetables. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth workflow. Restock clean dishes, utensils, and kitchenware in their designated storage areas. Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed. Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures, utilizing necessary protective gear. Any identified safety hazards or equipment malfunctions should be promptly reported to the supervisor. Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards, including compliance with local health regulations. Foster a guest-focused environment, delivering a consistently outstanding hospitality experience. Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies Ability to communicate effectively with management and staff. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards. Strong organizational and time management skills. A passion for hospitality and a desire to inspire guests to embrace diverse cultures and cuisines. Promote and uphold the culture, values, and mission of Restaurant K ensuring alignment with company standards. To inspire people to embrace different cultures of the world. Education and Experience Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess a current Food Handler’s certification before starting work. Experience as a Dishwasher or in a similar role is a plus. Experience cleaning a commercial kitchen is a plus. Work Environment Working during evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate peak dining hours. Fast‑paced environment requiring quick movements and efficiency in tight, confined workspaces. Handling and transporting dishware, glassware, and kitchen equipment in wet and sometimes slippery conditions. Collaborating with a diverse team of front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house staff in a structured yet flexible atmosphere. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for periods of up to eight hours. Must have the strength and endurance to handle repetitive motions, such as leaning over and bending, and be capable of lifting objects weighing up to fifty pounds. Required to use assistance when available, i.e., hand trucks, ramps, or another team member. The ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and maneuvering dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
