Job Summary:

The Internal Fund Administrator will play a central role in the oversight, monitoring, and reporting of a fund of funds complex, serving as the primary point of coordination across third-party fund administrators and auditors. This role blends operations, valuation oversight, and investment support, and is critical to ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of fund reporting for investment committee decision-making and regulatory compliance.

This role sits at the intersection of fund accounting, valuation oversight, and investment reporting, serving as the internal control point for a complex alternatives platform.

This position is critical to the firm's fiduciary and operational integrity , ensuring that:

1. Fund valuations are accurate and prepared in accordance with valuation policy
2. Investor reporting is consistent and reliable
3. Investment decisions are supported by high-quality data

Essential Job Functions for this role include:

1. Fund Administration Oversight

1. Serve as the primary liaison with third-party fund administrators for all underlying funds and vehicles
2. Review and monitor:
   1. NAV packages
   2. capital account statements
   3. transaction activity (capital calls, distributions, fees)
3. Pay fund expenses
4. Escalate discrepancies or irregularities and ensure timely resolution

2. Audit Coordination

1. Act as primary point of contact for external auditors
2. Coordinate annual audit process across fund entities
3. Review audited financial statements for consistency with internal records

3. Shadow Accounting & Valuation

1. Prepare and maintain quarterly shadow valuations for each fund
2. Independently track and reconcile:
1. capital activity
2. NAV movements
3. performance metrics
3. Perform capital account roll forwards, including:
1. contributions
2. distributions (including recallable capital)
3. net asset value changes
4. Identify and investigate:
1. valuation discrepancies
2. timing differences
3. stale or inconsistent pricing

4. Investment Monitoring & Reporting

1. Prepare quarterly fund monitoring and oversight reports for the Investment Committee
1. fund performance (IRR, MOIC, DPI/TVPI)
2. portfolio exposures
3. cash flow activity
4. manager-level trends
2. Highlight:
1. performance drivers
2. risks and anomalies
3. notable events across underlying managers

5. Data Integrity & Reconciliation

1. Reconcile data across:
1. internal systems (e.g., Opto / Arch / Orion / shadow books)
2. custodians
3. underlying fund reports
2. Maintain documentation and audit trail for all reconciliations

6. Process Improvement & Controls

1. Enhance internal processes for:
1. valuation consistency
2. reconciliation workflows
3. reporting efficiency
2. Develop and document controls aligned with SEC expectations

7. Ad Hoc Analysis

1. Support:
1. due diligence on new fund investments
2. responses to audit or regulatory inquiries
3. special projects across the alternatives platform

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience
  • private equity / private credit / investment operations
  • fund administration
  • fund of funds platform preferred
• 7+ years experience in:
• Technical Skills
  • capital call / distribution mechanics
  • private equity and alternatives structures
  • fund performance metrics (IRR, MOIC, DPI)

Work Schedule:

This professional role requires availability during standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM. At times, the role may have early or late hours to meet business tasks and deadlines for external and internal client needs.

All roles classified as a non-exempt are required to record working time into the timekeeping system daily at the start and end of each workday plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.

Working Conditions:

This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace which is free of interruptions. Whether position is in a dedicated office space or home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements. Routinely sitting and standing for periods of time. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.

Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors' incentive compensation programs.

Base Pay Range

$115,000—$130,000 USD
