Sr Data Scientist

Blu Omega is seeking a Data Scientist to support a federal law enforcement program focused on data analytics and investigative support. This hands-on role will use SQL, Python, and Power BI to analyze complex datasets, develop reports and visualizations, support data pipelines, and deliver actionable insights for mission-critical initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong analytical problem solver who can work independently, maintain a high level of data accuracy, and collaborate effectively with law enforcement stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex data analysis using SQL and Python across large datasets from multiple sources.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support investigative and operational decision-making.
• Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, relationships, and intelligence gaps.
• Work with and enhance existing data pipelines, analytical code, and templates to support recurring and case-specific requests.
• Extract, clean, transform, and validate structured and semi-structured data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Translate stakeholder and investigative requirements into data-driven analyses, reports, and actionable insights.
• Develop and evaluate statistical, predictive, and machine learning models for complex analytical use cases.
• Collaborate with federal and law enforcement stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate findings, and refine deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field preferred.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and Python to query, manipulate, validate, and analyze large datasets.
• Experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
• Experience working with data pipelines, analytical code, and structured or semi-structured data.
• Strong understanding of data quality, validation, statistical analysis, and analytical techniques.
• Ability to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and relationships and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate with mission-focused stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI and machine learning, including supervised and unsupervised learning and/or NLP involving unstructured data.
• Experience manipulating and analyzing unstructured data from multiple platforms and sources.
• Experience with additional data visualization and analytics tools such as Elastic X-Pack, Tableau, or Qlik.
• Experience designing or validating neural networks, decision trees, predictive models, or other advanced statistical models.
• Knowledge of cloud storage, Data Lakes, ETL processes, and serverless computing environments used for large-scale data processing.
• Experience working with government, law enforcement, or other sensitive data environments and associated compliance requirements.

Compensation
Salary Range: $100,000 - $165,000
