EARLY LEARNING SUPPORT SPECIALIST - 49% (BIRTH - 4 YEARS OLD)

Qualifications:
  • Hold a clear, renewable Georgia certificate in Elementary Education or Birth through Kindergarten (Elementary Fields)
  • Master's degree or higher preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and/or behavioral skills by providing instruction and intervention in a pre-k or elementary setting
Reports To: Building level school administration

Job Goal: To lead a system-wide birth to Pre-K program for parent outreach and early intervention, provide instructional and behavioral support for ELC students, and ensure a positive transition to kindergarten

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities to maintain command of early childhood development and emerging research/learning science
  • Develop and prioritize short and long-term birth to Pre-K program goals
  • Foster positive relationships with community stakeholders to enhance the birth to Pre-K program
  • Design and implement parent classes for birth to Pre-K to empower families to have an effective and positive impact on school success
  • Expose birth to Pre-K children to a high-quality school environment
  • Provide social opportunities for birth to Pre-K children
  • Increase access to books and resources for birth to Pre-K children and parents
  • Collect and analyze available data for monitoring and evaluation of birth to Pre-K program
  • Elicit participation in parent classes and resources through marketing and publications
  • Provide strategies and support to ELC teachers to help meet student needs for academics and behavior
  • Plan, schedule, and lead learning activities for staff, parents, and others to increase achievement for students at ELC
  • Provide targeted social skill support to ELC students
  • Contribute to a positive school climate and culture
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to identify needs, problem-solve potential solutions, and implement plans for supporting student progress
  • Support the vision and mission of the school and district
  • Support the policies, procedures, programs, and initiatives of the school and district
  • Perform other duties as assigned
