Lead A&P Mechanic

This role leads a corporate aircraft repair station at Lehigh Valley Airport as a hands-on shift lead. You will oversee a team of technicians while performing aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and return-to-service support on a variety of business jets. You will initially train on a Monday-Friday day shift before transitioning to a weekend shift and will ensure that all work meets FAA and repair station regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise A&P mechanics and technicians during the assigned shift in a corporate aircraft repair station environment.
• Perform hands-on heavy maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on corporate and business jet aircraft.
• Manage the daily workload by planning, prioritizing, and assigning tasks to technicians to ensure on-time completion of maintenance activities.
• Provide technical direction, guidance, and support to technicians throughout the shift to resolve complex maintenance and troubleshooting issues.
• Review, interpret, and apply aircraft maintenance documentation, technical manuals, and service bulletins in accordance with FAA regulations and repair station procedures.
• Support and perform aircraft inspections, including phase and heavy inspections, ensuring all findings are properly documented and addressed.
• Execute and support aircraft return-to-service activities, ensuring all work is completed, inspected, and signed off in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
• Ensure accurate completion of maintenance records, logbooks, and documentation to meet FAA and repair station standards.
• Promote and enforce safety practices and adherence to maintenance procedures and quality standards within the hangar and on the shop floor.
• Collaborate with leadership and other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize aircraft downtime.
• Train on the Monday-Friday day shift and then transition to the weekend shift, maintaining flexibility to support operational needs.
• Work overtime as needed to support maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of aircraft projects.
• Use and maintain personally owned tools appropriate for aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills:

• Active FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
• At least 7 years of aircraft maintenance experience, preferably in a corporate aviation or Part 145 repair station environment.
• Strong experience in heavy maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft.
• Previous experience leading or supervising A&P mechanics or technicians in a maintenance or repair station environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage daily workload, assign work, and provide technical direction and support to technicians.
• Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation, FAA requirements, and repair station procedures.
• Experience supporting inspections and aircraft return-to-service activities.
• Willingness to start on a Monday-Friday day shift for training and transition to a weekend shift.
• Ownership of appropriate tools required for aircraft maintenance work.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Corporate or business jet maintenance experience.
• Gulfstream experience strongly preferred, particularly with G400, G500, and G600 aircraft.
• Experience with aircraft such as Gulfstream G450, G550, G700, G400, G500, G650, G600, G280; Falcon 7X, Falcon 8X, Falcon 2000, Falcon 900, Falcon 50; HondaJet; Learjet; Hawker; Cessna Citation; and Challenger.
• Previous leadership experience in a Part 145 repair station.
• 710+ years of progressive A&P maintenance experience.
• Experience with jet engines, airframe repair, overhaul, and phase maintenance on corporate and business jets.
• Familiarity with maintenance, inspection, and aircraft repair best practices in a high-reliability environment.

Work Environment:

The role is based at Lehigh Valley Airport within a corporate aircraft repair station environment. You will work initially on a Monday-Friday day shift for training and then transition to a weekend shift, with overtime available as operational needs require. The hangar environment involves hands-on work around corporate and business jet aircraft, including Gulfstream, Falcon, Learjet, HondaJet, Hawker, Cessna Citation, and Challenger models. You will use your own professional-grade tools alongside shop equipment to perform maintenance, inspections, overhauls, and repairs in a structured, procedure-driven setting that adheres to FAA and Part 145 repair station standards.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
