Position Overview

Actalent is seeking an EHS Specialist to support the development and execution of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe working conditions, regulatory compliance, and proactive risk mitigation across operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, hands‑on EHS experience, and a collaborative approach to driving safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Workplace Investigations — Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards.
\n
• EHS Awareness — Promote EHS awareness through effective communication and employee engagement.
\n
• Safety & Environmental Point of Contact — Serve as a key contact for safety and environmental issues.
\n
• Regulated Waste Management — Support waste consolidation, inspections, and compliance activities.
\n
• Compliance Tasks — Conduct stormwater sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
\n
• Regulatory Compliance — Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
\n
• EHS Audits — Support and conduct audits, develop action plans, and implement corrective measures.
\n
• Risk Assessments — Perform Job Hazard Analyses for new processes and equipment.
\n
• Metrics & Reporting — Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly EHS metrics for management and corporate reporting.
\n
• Corporate & Legal Compliance — Support management efforts to ensure compliance with corporate programs and federal/state laws.
\n
• Ergonomic Risk Mitigation — Recommend appropriate ergonomic risk‑reduction measures.
\n
• Safety Committee Leadership — Establish and manage the site safety committee.
\n

Basic Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
\n
• 1+ years of EHS support experience , preferably in manufacturing or warehousing environments.
\n
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations , specifically 29 CFR 1910.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting.
\n
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues.
\n
• Ability to work flexible schedules , including weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as needed.
\n
• Ability to work 40 hours/week and travel between warehouse locations throughout the Puget Sound region.

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, NEBOSH, CIH, or CHMM .
\n
• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer‑focus skills.
\n
• Experience leading teams and conducting job hazard/safety analyses for new processes and machinery.
\n
• Experience in emergency response ; current First Aid and CPR certifications.
\n
• Experience with workers’ compensation case management .
\n
• Experience supporting compliance with CAA, RCRA, CWA , and other environmental regulations.
\n
• Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels and disciplines; receptive to feedback and quick to implement improvements.
