Massage Therapist

Massage TherapistThe Massage Therapist will perform therapeutic massage services to participants in the day center as prescribed by a PCP. Assessment and treatment will be geared toward improving circulation, promoting relaxation, and relieving stress, pain and injury associated with the geriatric population.Duties/ResponsibilitiesEvaluate clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motionDevelop and propose participant treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be usedConsult with participants about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpfulMassage and knead the muscles and soft tissues of the human body in order to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries or wellness maintenancePrepare and blend oils, and apply the blends to participant's skinMaintain detailed and accurate treatment records utilizing the PACE RI EMRCoordinate transportation and scheduling in conjunction with the Health Center Administrative Assistant.Performs other related duties as required and assigned.Required Skills & Abilities:Ability to maintain confidentialityDependable and punctual with ability to maintain consistent attendanceAbility to read, write and comprehend EnglishAbility to maintain sound judgement under stress and communicate effectivelyAbility to proficiently perform clinical/skilled tasks associated within scope of positionProficiency with MS Office Suite or similar softwareEducation RequirementsHigh School Diploma, RequiredPhysical RequirementsPhysical ability to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, lift, stand, walk, stretch and reach for extended periods of time.Must be able to regularly lift objects up to 25 pounds and at times up to 35 pounds.Must be able to assist a 200-250 lb participant, using proper body mechanics.Must have hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and/or to observe and communicate with participants.Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises as well as related community care settings.Must be able to tolerate conditions typically associated within a medical office and/or home care setting including potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.Experience2 Years of direct service work, Preferred1 Year of experience in a Medical or Geriatric Care setting, Preferred1 year of experience working with a frail or elderly population, PreferredLicense & Certification RequirementsRhode Island Massage Therapist License (LMT)Position RequirementsCPR CertificationDriver's License & access to reliable transportation: community-based travel may be requiredSalary Description 30 Hours M-F | $30 - $31.25
