Custodial and Small Engine Repairs (Current GISD Employees Only)

Job Description
Maintains and performs major and minor repairs on custodial and small equipment (i.e. mowers, blowers, weed eaters). Provide support to the Motor Vehicle Shop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Places orders on custodial equipment and parts. Maintains equipment and parts inventory. Ability to read and follow equipment repair manual. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Conduct's inventory on supplies and equipment covering all school sites and the warehouse facilities. Ability to operate a fork lift. Asist Motor Vehicle shop with maintenance of fleet. Ability to maintain and repair propane fueled engines. Wears uniform and safety shoes provided by Gadsden ISD. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Ability to repair and maintain custodial and small equipment (mowers, blowers, weed eaters). Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. Knowledge and observance of safety precautions. Operate a forklift and/or pallet jack. Must be able to perform basic data input on a computer. Must be able to understand electrical system and wiring in small motors. Must be able to drive school vehicles and driving record in good standing. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Three (3) years' experience working with electrical systems. Small motor machines and equipment repair or certification from a technical school. Valid Driver's License MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and truck more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and up to 90 pounds occasionally. Ability to properly use and care for job related tools and equipment. Frequent District wide travel. The employee will sometime push/pull items such as table, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Maintains emotional control under stress. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dusts, fumes and odors While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly works indoors and will work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
$19.88 per hour
