Relationship Banker I The Relationship Banker serves as the single point of contact for customers to understand their needs and match them with First United Bank products and services. The role includes customer service, sales, relationship management, and mentorship of staff. Essential Duties Maintain basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies and regulatory issues (Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, deposit, transaction and loan accounts). Follow proper procedures accurately and efficiently for all customer‑servicing activities. Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships. Serve as customers' single point of contact for all products and services. Consistently meet and often exceed performance goals; actively participate in sales campaigns; promote new products and services and educate customers and peers. Participate in meetings, bank functions, and customer appreciation/community events as requested. Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, smiling, using their name, and building rapport to generate customer loyalty. Identify and match customer product needs by interviewing customers and discussing financial needs, making referrals to other staff and departments as needed. Open new accounts, certificates of deposit and other ancillary products; provide account opening information; ensure proper paperwork is completed and entered. Assist customers with routine questions and requests (balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfer, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy). Process a variety of transactions quickly with minimal or no errors according to established policies and procedures; including checks, money orders, savings bonds, traveler’s checks, cashier’s checks, loan payments and other services. Maintain appropriate drawer limits; perform cash verifications and vault duties; verify all transactions, place holds as appropriate and close the cash drawer at shift end to ensure compliance. Resolve customer complaints and issues proactively; review and resolve account issues from reports; assist with account charge‑off repayment plans. Perform security functions by opening and closing the bank and vault, and ensuring overall safety and security of the bank grounds. Master the Primary Purpose and Essential Duties of the Relationship Banker I position. Employee Specifications High School Diploma strongly preferred. Some college strongly preferred. One year of retail experience preferred; cash handling experience preferred. Superior customer service skills required. Basic mathematics to solve problems. Accuracy and attention to detail; exact or highly accurate work. Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills with customers and co‑workers. Time‑management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good judgment and decision‑making skills; critical thinking and logic. Ability to multi‑task and maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Ethical conduct in and out of the work environment. Active listening and focus on customer needs.
