Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) in Home Health provides skilled occupational therapy services to patients in their homes within Alameda County. The role involves prioritizing start of care visits, supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants, completing timely clinical documentation, and maintaining effective communication with supervisors and office staff. The OT ensures quality patient care by managing caseloads that average 40 hours per week and adhering to productivity requirements. Responsibilities:

• Prioritize and complete start of care visits promptly.
• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in clinical and administrative tasks.
• Report start of care visits by the next day.
• Complete clinical notes and documentation within 48 hours of each visit.
• Maintain timely communication with supervisors, intake personnel, and office staff.
• Manage caseloads to meet an average of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
• Adhere to productivity requirements of 30 points per week, with point-to-hour conversion for visit types.
• Coordinate and document various visit types including start of care, recertification, resumption of care, OASIS discharge, evaluation, revisit, and non-OASIS discharge visits.
• Use provided equipment such as iPad and Ring Central for documentation and communication.
• Obtain pre-approval for any overtime from the Clinical Supervisor.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active California Occupational Therapy License.
• Minimum of one year of Home Health occupational therapy experience.
• Ability to supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants effectively.
• Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with electronic documentation systems, specifically Kinnser.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the assigned territory.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working within Alameda County or surrounding areas.
• Familiarity with productivity point systems and time management in home health settings.
• Comfort with mobile technology and telecommunication tools.

Special Considerations:

• Must be generally responsive during normal business hours.
• Overtime work requires prior approval from Clinical Supervisor.
• No on-call, call back, or weekend shifts required.
• Travel reimbursement provided for mileage, parking, and tolls.
• Option for company car available with adjusted billing.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position with a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
• Caseload and visit mix designed to average 8 hours per day.
• Training includes three full days: one in-house and two in the field.
