A scaffold leadman supervises and coordinates the assembly, dismantling, and safety of scaffolding, leading a crew to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Leadership: Scaffold leadmen oversee a team of scaffolders and laborers, delegating tasks based on skill and experience, mentoring crew members, and fostering a safe, collaborative work environment .
Scaffolding Installation & Removal: They manage the erection and dismantling of scaffolding structures, including tube and clamp or system scaffolds, ensuring all materials are used correctly and structures meet project specifications, blueprints, and industry codes
Safety Compliance: Leadmen enforce OSHA regulations and company safety protocols, conduct daily inspections, perform job hazard analyses, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE),
Quality Control: They inspect scaffolds for stability and integrity, correct discrepancies or defects, and maintain documentation logs for inspections and safety compliance
Material Handling: Scaffold leadmen coordinate the transport, loading, unloading, and hoisting of scaffolding materials, ensuring proper storage and maintenance Indeed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and scaffold design drawings hirify.me.
• Hands-on experience with scaffolding systems and carpentry tools, including hammers, levels, saws, drills, and wrenches .
• Ability to work at heights and lift heavy materials safely
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of scaffold load capacities, height-to-base ratios, and structural integrity standards .
• Certification in fall protection or OSHA scaffold standards is often preferred .

Work Environment

Scaffold leadmen typically work on construction or industrial sites, often at high elevations, and may be required to work long hours outdoors. The role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety
